Jenny Lewis, Colbie Caillat & TFIOS Soundtrack (#TT145)

Hello lovelies!

If you think you're having a boring week so far, watch this music video by Jenny Lewis and I promise that it will give you a smile! You may see some familiar faces in awesomely unexpected costumes :)

Another great video of a great song comes from Colbie Caillat. This song has such beautiful lyrics which conveys an important message and every girl/woman NEEDS to listen to this.

Ahhh!

How many of you are fan-girling right now? :D

I just watched the TFIOS movie last week (I know, I know) and I just LOVE the soundtrack. I would also like to make a confession..

I didn't shed a tear watching this :O which was really surprising!!! I almost teared at one part though, ALMOST. I purposely watched online at home so that I could be the worst crybaby ever without anyone judging, but at the end of the movie I didn't use a single tissue lol.

I'm not sure whether it was because of the slightly poor audio or the fact that I paused the movie several times to do other things, or my overall sensitivity has decreased haha. Anyways, it was a good movie and it was slightly different than what I had expected, in a good way :)

The full soundtrack list:

1. Ed Sheeran -- "All Of The Stars"
2. Jake Bugg -- "Simple As This"
3. Grouplove -- "Let Me In"
4. Birdy -- "Tee Shirt"
5. Kodaline -- "All I Want"
6. Tom Odell -- "Long Way Down"
7. Charli XCX -- "Boom Clap"
8. STRFKR -- "While I'm Alive"
9. Indians -- "Oblivion"
10. The Radio Dept. -- "Strange Things Will Happen"
11. Afasi & Filthy -- "Bomfallarella"
12. Ray LaMontagne -- "Without Words"
13. Birdy -- "Not About Angels"
14. Lykke Li -- "No One Ever Loved"
15. M83 -- "Wait"
16. Birdy ft. Jaymes Young -- "Best Shot" (bonus track)

My favorites are "Boom Clap" by Charli XCX and "Bomfallarella" by Afasi & Filthy, which are also the only two upbeat songs in the entire list.

She has been mistaken a lot by people as Lorde. Well, that was my first impression as well, thanks to the thick wild black wavy hair, but she definitely has a different style. Love this song!

Next is a hip-hop Swedish duo whom I think are pretty darn rad. (Thank you John Green!) One of them kind of sounds like Eminem. When I first listened to this song, I was hooked immediately. When I listened for the second time, I thought this was the same song as the song Julia Stiles danced to on a table being drunk in the movie "10 Things I Hate About You" (one of the best movies ever btw), but later I found out it was "Hypnotize" by Notorious B.I.G. They both share similar beats!

That's all for this week. Till next time!

Superheroes - Yay or Nay? (TT#142)

Hello lovelies!

How y'all doin? Yes, it's been a while indeed. I want to talk a little bit about movies today.

I've been so under the rock about movies lately. Main reason is because I don't have the time due to the overwhelming amount of work (yes even on weekends). The other reason is when I do have the time, there's nobody I could watch with *sobs*.

But when I look at the movie posters at the cinema, I don't feel that I've missed much. Superhero movies keep coming out and while people are so excited to watch them, for some reason I just don't feel it. I guess it's because the storyline is pretty much similar. Ordinary guy becomes the hero, fighting the bad guy who is "unexpectedly" bad. The differences would just lie on the weapons and rationale of the crime. Is it because I'm a girl? Lol stereotype much. I don't mind watching it but I just never feel that it's a must-genre to watch.

Plus, sequels and different versions start popping up which makes a turn-off even more for me because no matter how many damn times Hollywood people make it, it always sells and creates a hype. However, I do agree that such movies are better to watch in the cinema rather than on your laptop because it's more exciting on a big screen. See, I'm not a hater :p

Guess how many more Supermen, Spidermen and Batmen in the next 10 years?

My type of movies you ask? Well, I'm glad that you did ask. I like literature-based movies the most. I just feel that it's so worth it to watch those 18th-19th century-type of movies on a big screen. It feels like watching an art. I don't really mind the genre, it could be action, romance, drama, fantasy, anything. While I do like chick flicks and those novel-based movies, I always can wait to watch it online. Even sometimes I prefer to watch animations compared to chick flicks just because that I know for sure I will leave the cinema with a big smile.

When it comes to music, it's a little bit different. I'm always interested to hear the soundtrack of movies. Normally movies or TV shows have the best selection of music. Even for one of the Twilight movies, I went to watch it just because the main sountrack was by Paramore :D

Have you listened to the main soundtrack song by Alicia Keys for Amazing Spiderman 2? It's pretty amazing.

This one is not a soundtrack of a movie, but it's just as amazing!

Have a great week!

Another list of mainstream music! (#TT118)

Hello lovelies!

Just a quick post of music highlights of the week. Enjoy!

Rumoured to be the next Bieber. Hmm... This song reminds me of 'N Sync A LOT. I can tell that he's a fan. There's even "bye bye bye" in the lyrics!

Cute video from Queen Spears for Smurfs 2 soundtrack. Her kids are really cute!

Interesting collab. I never heard of her music before but she's so pretty! I like it that she still incorporates some Bollywood tunes into the song. Love her outfits too! The shoe-pool dipping scene is kind of random though. I mean, why would someone do that?!

Been a while since the last time I listened to Panic and thanks to this song, now I recall that their music was and STILL is so much alike Fall Out Boy's. Even the music video is as stragic as FOB's latest MVs!

Last but not least...

RIP Cory Monteith :(

I never really watched Glee (shocking, I know), but this news definitely saddens me.. Especially after finding out that he was just about to start a new life with his girlfriend :(( If my idol passes away, I think I'd be pretty much miserable like all the fans who are devastated at the moment.

Song: "Angels on The Moon" by Thriving Ivory - I think I found my new favorite band.

'Till next time peeps!

OZ The Great! (#TT105)

I was SO excited when I first saw the poster of this movie for the first time at the cinema. I've been and will always be a sucker for  Disney movies, especially fairy-tale based.

I went to watch it last weekend and I have to say that my expectation of the story line was different (didn't read the synopsis or anything) but it was still great! LOVED the graphics although I watched it in 2D. I think in 3D it would be super awesome!

I've never read the entire classic novels of Oz, so I didn't know of this story version at all. The only Oz book I've read was the one with Dorothy entering Oz for the first time. It was a picture book that consists of probably 10 pages. I also kinda forgot how it goes specifically but after watching this movie, I remember of my childhood picture books and how much I miss them! I had every single fairy tale story that you can think of. I don't know where they are now. My mom probably gave them away to charities or something. I recall some of them were destroyed because of the severe flood in my hometown :'( I really hope there's still some left behind!

#suddenflashback

LOL.

Check out the Oz soundtrack by the diva!

I honestly didn't notice this song during the movie, probably in the end? I was really enjoying the orchestra background music ;)

Have you watched Oz The Great and Powerful?
Let me know your experience if you have!

BONUS: Joe Brooks!!!

The acoustic heartthrob released a new single this month and invited Tammin Sursok (Jenna in Pretty Little Liars) to be his love interest in the music video. How awesome!!

Mr. (Perfect) Brooks brings his music to the next level! Normally he plays around with acoustic sounds but this time added the pop-beat touch into his music. I can't wait to hear the other songs off his new album!

That's all for this week. I'll see you guys again next week (or hopefully this weekend)!

Take care!

Les Mis Fever! (TT #99)

Les Misérables Movie Poster

Finally I had the time to go to the movies and watched this incredible movie last Sunday.I had been waiting since last December and I thought it was already taken out of the showing list but no! BEST MOVIE EVER!!!

I never watched the broadway show nor watched the novel, but the movie was stunningly beautiful. Most of it was from the act-singing part though because it makes it more emotional. Hands down for Anne Hathaway!!!

And of course, I couldn’t get the songs out of my head!! I LOVE orchestra music. Below is the list of my favorite songs from this amazing movie:

“Crying at all is not allowed, not in my castle on a cloud”… The movie version somehow sounds more innocent to my ears though.

This is the original broadway version :)

The first part of the movie that made me cry! A lot! Anne brought me to ride a roller coaster of emotions :’)

I was surprised by Amanda’s angelic voice. I had no idea that she could sing at all! And Eddie.. man, that cutie-pie face apparently has a very deep voice!

Love the orchestra of this song! Though I don’t like the scene where the ladies were judging and cornering Fantine.

Aaaaaand here comes my most absolute favorite piece!
I can listen to this all day!!

So have you watched this movie? If so, what do you think?

Have a fantastic week!

Swift did it again! (#TT82)

Congrats to Taylor Swift in winning the Woman Of The Year Award at the Billboard Music Awards 2012! She looks gorgeous as usual. I love her with straight hair! Not to mention that her red eye makeup totally completes off the stunning red evening gown by Elie Saab!
Recently, her two songs were also officially released on Youtube. Well, actually the second one is B.o.B’s song, but without her voice this song wouldn’t be as good! I also just found out that “Eyes Open” is also in the Hunger Games soundtrack after “Safe and Sound”.  These two songs are definitely different from what she normally does and yet she still rocks ‘em. Although “Both of Us” has a guitar touch that makes it a lil bit more country-ish? :D

And sometimes I wonder
All we care so much about the way we look
And the way we talk, and the way we act
And the clothes we bought, how much that cost?
Does it even really matter?
Cause if life is an uphill battle,
We all try to climb on the same old ladder
In the same boat with the same old paddle

Dig the songs, peeps? :)

Have a lovely week!

My wings on the wheel (TT#35)

Does anyone remember this movie???

I used to watch it ALL THE TIME and this part was definitely my favorite!

I remembered imitating Thumbelina when she touches the water in this scene. You know how I did it? I used the office chair, laid my body on it, pushed my body by kicking against the floor and let myself “FLY” and touched the shiny floor as if it was a river LOL. Pure brilliant imagination. Miss it.

And the funniest part was when my elder brother actually followed me! HAHAHA! He didn’t do the river-touching part though. Luckily.

So this is why the tiles in the family room are in a poor condition. My parents were once mad at me and my brother but I think they have accepted the bitter fact and let the tiles unchanged for years. I call them vintage :)

Any childhood movies you want to share?? I know a lot! :D
